AT&T is roughly doubling-up the amount of money it is charging users who leave prior to their agreement authoritatively runs out.

AT&T Increased Fee To $325 For Those Who Left Agreement Unofficially

The WSJ reports that,
“AT&T is hiking the fees to $325 from $175 on Smartphone and netbook contracts. For feature phones, AT&T is dropping the fee by $25 to $150. The changes will take effect June 1, but won’t apply to existing contracts until a subscriber renews. “

The fee alterations come in front of a new iPhone, which is probably to be disclosed by Apple on June 7, but has not been long-established by either company. The hikes are also fascinatingly timed, particular that AT&T’s uniqueness on the iPhone is getting on with its closing stages in 2012, or in accurately two years when the subsequently wave of deals would be finishing.

AT&T goes after an early-termination fee variation by Verizon Communications in November. It countenanced queries by the FCC later than doubling its fees for its smartphones from $175to $350.

Both companies squabbles that the augmentations are needed as consumers take on smartphones, which haulers reduce intensely through financial supports. If subscribers go away their agreement early on, the carrier has a larger possibility at losing money.
