Intel planned to launch a dual Atom for netbooks and few more details are available now. The brand name is Atom N550, dual-core500 series and ship in Q3 2010.

Intel Atom N550 With Dual Core 1.5GHz Processors Releasing In This Year

The difference is clear as N400 series will have been single-cores, at the same time as N500 series are dual-core. The dual core Atom for netbooks is clocked at 1.5GHz. It has 1MB total L2 cache. 2x512KB per core and two cores with four hyperthreads.

The TPD for this CPU is 8. 5W which is two watts extra than single-core 1. 83GHz clocked N475. Keep in mind, 8. 5W is not that awful as this CPU has An Intel Graphic Media acceleration 3150 footted core, incorporated 200MHz graphics core and the big parts of northbridge.

Mooly Eden, Intel’s VP said that,
“Some multitasking operating systems might need a dual core CPU, something that might be quite good for the future tablet CPU. “
