Review: May 2009. Updated July 2009.
The best-selling phone in the opening half of 2009 has almost certainly been the LG Cookie. The clandestine to the Cookie’s achievement is easy: it’s a touch screen phone with many of the gadgets for just £100. So now Samsung has launched the Tocco Lite to go nose to nose next to the Cookie for best financial plan touch screen phone. Which phone will win in the Cookie vs. Tocco Lite fight?
Well, the Tocco Lite is incoming on the scene 6 months afterward than the Cookie, so it should be 6 months in front of the arc, and an obvious champion. But actually the requirement is almost accurately the same to the Cookie, and the Tocco Lite is selling at a somewhat high price, though this may fall in the weeks after release. What then, is the point of the Tocco?

Physically, the two devices are precisely the similar size, to in a millimeter! The screens are indistinguishably in type, size, color definition and pixels. With a good size screen (3 inches) and elevated resolution, Samsung’s Touch Wiz user interface mechanism well on the Tocco Lite. Touch Wiz can now be considered as a grown-up technology, and it seems to be appealing to a great deal unanimously admired. Mobile widgets allow you adapt your home screen and provide trouble-free access to apps such as the clock, weather forecast, etc. There are also widgets available for popular web apps such as MySpace, Face book and YouTube. The fixed accelerometer feeler will robotically turn around the screen when you turn the phone on its face, so you can easily get control between portrayal and scenery form. The implicit QWERTY keyboard is easy to use. The accumulation of “real” keys for call, send and select to make it even easier to use than a full touch phone. The user interface also supports handwriting appreciation and gesticulation lock.
Samsung’s most enjoying feature “Smile Shot” lets you get a photo when the camera senses your subject matter is smiling. You can also correct your photos on the camera itself. A basic camcorder is offered too. There’s a music player, FM radio with RDS, and support for downloadable MP3 ringtones. Audio excellence is good, with a virtual 3D surround effect, an equalizer and support for DNSe. The memory is flexible to 16GB with a microSD card. When it comes to in connection, the Tocco Lite supports Bluetooth and USB. Like the Cookie, there’s no Wi-Fi and no 3G. But keep in mind that this is a budget phone. The web browser is very good, making outstanding use of the large screen and with simple access to RSS feeds, Google Mail, Google Search and Google Maps. The requirement of 3G does a basket the web browser though in terms of download speed.
Battery life appears to be very good. The Tocco Lite doesn’t have the deep tasking battery of its big brothers, the Tocco or Omnia.
Taken on its own conditions, the Tocco Lite is a wonderful phone. At the same time, as it is deficient in some of the features of high-end phones (3G, GPS, 8 MP camera, Wi-Fi, etc.), it does present a lot for your money: a gorgeous touch screen user interface with 3.2 Megapixel camera, stereo FM radio with RDS, accelerometer sensor, handwriting detection and up to 16GB microSD resilient memory. It’s available at initiation with some tremendous contract deals: free line rental or free gifts such as an XBOX 360, etc., and it comes in a selection of pink or black. It’s an excellent phone offering exceptional value.
