Blu-ray discs have increased in the storage power by 128GB. Blu-ray Disc Association announced the two new specs for the format—BDXL, and IH-BD. But the bad news, a new player/recorder is to buy to use the 128GB discs.

The new BDXL requirement describes High Capacity Recordable and Rewritable discs, which enable it to write up to 128GB of contents on each disc. There is the capability of writing-once, with the rewritable discs letting for 100GB of storage.
For nowadays it’s now for marketable use, but the BDA will be releasing customer BDXL discs, which will be practical for those who are planning on endowing in a Blu-ray recorder in the close future.
The IH-BD format has two layers of 25GB competence each, designed for viewing but not overwriting data, one for BD-ROM use, and the other a BD-RE layer. While the additional storage capacity for the BDXL discs is greeting, but a not good news—as the BDA has cautioned that they won’t be companionable with presented hardware.
