RIM has announced Blackberry Playbook in the UK, with the 16GB starter priced at £399.32GB model will be available at £479, and the 64GB will cost price £559.Blackberry Playbook announced prices are in same range as the Apple iPad prices. However, Playbook screen i.e. 7 inches wide is less than 75% of the ipad’s size.
Additionally, although RIM introduced this device in enterprise market, but it’s email and calendar applications will not work with the Playbook unless linked to a Blackberry phone.RIM sold over 50,000 copies of the Playbook in the US on its launch day a month ago and almost 1,000 devices faced problem due to OS used. According to RIM, 16GB versions suffered problems with loading software due a transient fault in the new QNX OS used.
RIM is trying to increase its share price by pushing Playbook towards success in market. Because they lost almost quarter price of share this year due to lack of any attractive contribution related to smart phones.
